Hello, my friend! How are you? If you're out of time or "in a rush", go to the last paragraph of this text for a fast answer.
In times of immediate responses and connection 24 hours a day, talking about long-term transformation is a risk! But… we believe you can (and must!) dream big, and make a daily effort to get better every day. This is our mission - seeing you speaking English and being a Leader wherever you go. "The 5 Essential People Skills" was written by Dale Carnegie and its goal is to improve your people skills. In other words, to improve your relationships at work and at home.
Dale says the primary achievement of this book is to "identify and explore 5 essential people skills: rapport building, curiosity, communication, ambition, conflict resolution". In the preface Carnegie says procrastination can minimize your results, and you should put the concepts of this book into practice.
I know you've been interrupted a lot these days, and that's our biggest challenge with you. Our goal is to see you here every day for 10 minutes, without interruptions. If you can, block your phone notifications while you're studying with us. It's a simple attitude with a huge impact in your learning experience with us.
"Whenever possible, give yourself a deadline, and hold yourself accountable for following through on that deadline. If you do not implement the action steps that you have mapped out for yourself, this book simply becomes an exercise in reading". Carnegie is telling you that without practice, this book becomes pure theory and thought.
The 5 People Skills are rapport building, curiosity, communication, ambition and conflict resolution. Over the next articles (and videos, of course!) we'll dive deeper into these concepts, showing real-life examples so you can grow faster. Enjoy this book, my friend! God bless and see you next class!
